Sync Widget
A widget for Method users, with thoughtful UI design and dev-ready documentation. Designed to make QuickBooks sync status clear, actionable, and visible at a glance.
Wider Impact
This wasn’t just a new feature. It addressed long-standing requests, improved access, and brought us closer to a zero-conflict experience.
Long Time Coming
First requested in 2015 — it’s finally here.
North Star
Helps drive us toward zero-conflict accounts with clearer sync visibility.
Better Access
No more navigating, now non-admins can also see conflict details directly.
Gradual Roll Out
Live on internal + 270 accounts. Full launch by end of Q2 2025.
User Testing
We conducted remote user testing via Zoom to observe how users interacted with the new sync statuses.
Feedback was positive, with users expressing relief at finally having clear visibility. We used Amplitude to pull key insights from the feedback users gave after testing the new widget.

Impact After Launch
In the first month, we saw over 600 sync conflicts across just 5% of accounts. Most came from invoices, estimates, and sales orders.
“Sync Conflict” made up nearly 70% of all interactions — confirming it was the pain point users needed surfaced. The widget did exactly that.

My Contribution

We introduced a new Sync Widget — a small but powerful status component that appears inline within record pages.
I was responsible for:
-
UI Design — designing a clean status system (Synced, Sync Conflict, Pending Approval, Not Ready)
-
Developer Documentation — ensuring smooth handoff with detailed logic and visuals
-
Appcues Setup — creating an onboarding flow that explained the widget to users at launch

🔍 CONTEXT
Method integrates with QuickBooks, which is the main reason most businesses use it. But users had no clear way to confirm if records like invoices or estimates had synced—leading to confusion, manual checks, and support issues.
🚨 THE PROBLEM
Users had no visibility into sync status. If something failed or was still pending, they often found out too late—causing workflow issues and eroding trust in Method’s core value: syncing with QuickBooks.
